Wow! Vindaloo! It's spicy, it's hot. It could be an English icon...

It apparently has Portuguese roots but it originates from Goa in India. Vindaloo basically means "vinegar" and "potato". This could be misleading. What it should mean is "never taste anything again".

We shouldn't need to tell you all about Vindaloo. What we can tell you is that at Spicymonkey Towers we strive to make sure we keep to an authentic Goan recipe and despite the heat, the taste is still there and can be enjoyed if you're a curry aficionado (traditional Goan Vindaloo is not as hot as some of those you find in the UK).

Traditionally cooked with pork, it's also great with duck. It can also be used with seafood or vegetables. All you need to do to make a Spicymonkey Vindaloo is coat the meat, fish or vegetables in the spice mix. Marinating for at least an hour is best. Then in a little oil, fry the spiced meat and a chopped onion, add the specified amounts of tomato and water and simmer until cooked. Best served with rice, it also needs either a few beers or some milk to help. Ooh ooh ah ah!

Here's a few words about our Vindaloo from Matt Oakes (Darlington): -

"Dude, Spicymonkey Vindaloo is awesome! Bit warm but I loved it."
